General Election

Sir.—The arrogance of the Prime Minister is still very evident. With a budget deficit of $2OOO million plus, how can he chide the Opposition for having a “yawning gap” between projected revenue and expenditure? How can he state that Mr Rowling, when he visited Australia, was a joke to the other representatives of the Commonwealth when a certain chubby little man was the butt of all the Australian cartoonists? He cavalierly dismisses the opinion of a former member of his "think tank" and tries to gag him by writing to the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand which includes the President of the National. Party. I cannot understand his position on the Heylen poll and agree with the opinion, expressed in a weekly financial publication, that you cannot place great credence in poll results.—Yours, etc., T. R. RICHARDS. October 17. 1981.
