Loss of migrant workers slows

However, .this net loss of 7370 workers is an improver me'nt on the net loss of 8801 for the same period last year according to Statistics Department figures. \ This year the total number of . workers who left New Zealand (including those not* actively engaged) was 22.168 while 12.070 . arrived. Last, year 23,883 left and, 12.202 arrived. Specific figures for April-. .■ July, 1981, included net losses of 1316 (2204 last year) pro-
fessional. technical and related workers: 208 (249) administrative and managerial workers; 1381 (1750) clerical and related workers: 538 (518) sales workers: 481 (537) service workers: 405 (361) agricultural, animal husbandry. forestry workers, fishermen and hunters: and 2866 (2967) production and related workers, transport equipment operators and labourers. i . The general migration "-figures of the department 'show that permanent and long-term (12 months or more) departures for the year ended July. 1981, ‘ numbered 68.075 (69.563 the previous vear) and arrivals, 44,833 (43.830).
