Rating to stay?

Land-value rating will probably remain in the Riccarton Borough. This was the recommendation of the borough council’s finance committee which last evening heard a report on differential rating. Council officers had been asked by the council to prepare the report. The officers examined the borough’s new valuation rolls

and took a sample range of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. Their report concluded that land-value rating on the new property values, prepared by the Valuation Department, would even' out most anomalies. The committee also recommended that any anomalies which arose “be handled on a one-off basis.”
