Soccer player in hiding

PA Melbourne A Rumanian soccer player who went missing in Melbourne last Wednesday has been in hiding and will try to remain in Australia, a Rumanian emigre spokesman said.

Mr Vai Pantea, president of the Rumanian Association of Victoria, said he would talk to immigration officials about the future of Gheorghe Viscreanu, aged 20, who was last seen leaving the team’s Melbourne hotel with two women.

Mr Pantea said Mr Viscreanu had been taken to a farm in the east of Victoria and had since been moved to another hideout. He would not come out of hiding until today, after the Rumanian team had left Australia:
