Factory’s closing costs 100 fobs
PA ’ f, Auckland Nearly 100, people will lose their jobs because a leading manufacturer of camping gear and outdoor furniture will close its Auckland factory. . The Great Outdoors Company, Ltd, will wind down its Auckland business before the end of the year and concentrate production at its Hamilton factory. ■ The jobs of 96 Auckland staff, members wijl be lost and - 12 members of the
Hamilton staff will also- be affected by the decision which follows'four successive years of trading losses for the company. The company's general manager, Mr R. Barry, said: “Our main concern now is tb help the people affected to seek alternative positions."' Staff who will lose their jobs have already been advised that associated companies in both cities had been instructed to give first preference to them if vacancies arise.
