Sir,—l am amazed at the condemnation of tour protesters. Without effective protest. how would the rest of the world be able to judge us, as a nation, on apartheid, when we

are seen to welcome a South African team with open arms? Our ineffectual politicians and, in particular, our “strong man" generate very little respect for New Zealand overseas. South Africa, with her unlimited wealth in gold, can afford to ignore world opinion, but can New Zealand when we have to go cap in hand to sell our products overseas?—Yours, etc..
