Meeting ‘informative’
A public meeting at Duvauchelle addressed by North Canterbury Catchment board representatives last evening was purely informative, according to the chairman of the Banks Peninsula branch of Federated Farmers, Mr C. E. Grigg. ; . The. subject, of the Akaroa "County Council's possible withdrawal from the board did not come up, he said. Judging by the mood of the meeting, the matter would probably not be
brought up at a Federated Farmers’ meeting later this month. Although some people at the meeting on Tuesday evening might have been against remaining with the board.. they were in the rriinority, and the meeting had been mostly a question and answer session about the workings and costs of the board, as well as its new policy on burning-off, Mr Grigg said.
