Decision on inquiry delayed

A decision on whether to order a formal inquiry into the collision of two jet" boats on the Kawarau River near Queenstown last month will be delayed pending the result of discussions to formulate a code of practice for jet boat use in the Queenstown area.

This was announced yesterday bv the Minister of Transport (Mr McLachlan), who said that the discussions were well advanced and should be completed within a few weeks.

Mr McLachlan received last Friday the report of the preliminary inquiry into the collision in which four passengers lost their lives.
