Situations Vacant SOCIAL WORKER ALCOHOL AND DRUG DEPENDENCY SERVICE: HOROWHENUA DISTRICT. APPLICATIONS are invited for the above full-time position based at Levin. The appointee will be required to initiate and develop social work services to persons with alcohol and drug related problems in the southern part of the Board's area — extending from Shannon to Walkanae. Services will include assessment of alconol problems, emergency intervention, consultation to employers, the courts and local social agencies. liaison witn general practitioners. initiating treatment and education programmes, and family casework. Services will be provided from an accessible community base in Levin as well as at the Waikanae Health Centre. The social worker will work closely with the Board’s Alcohol and Drug Dependence Centre in mid-city Palmerston North as well as with the Detoxication Unit at Palmerston North Hospital. Applicants should have a recognised social work qualification. Some relevant previous experience would be a distinct advantage. Salary depending on qualifications and experience is in accordance with Hospital Service Social Workers’ Determination up to a maximum of $17,741 per annum. Provision exists for further advancement to $18,592 per annum. Regular supervsion and inservice education provided as well as opportunities to contribute to fieldwork education of social work students.
