A North Canterbury golf team overcame Nelson, 9 L 26 l 2, in a representative match at Nelson at the weekend. The contest w’as close, three games going to the eighteenth green on Saturday and another four progressing to the last hole yesterday. Results (Nelson names first) were:— Saturday
I. Strickett beat M. J. Stanley 4 and 2; G. Girvin lost to J. H. Lapsley, 1 down; P. Dillon beat T. Monk, 1 up; R. Stuart beat G. H. Turner, 1 up; C. Scammell lost to R. Start, 5 and 3; K. Foley lost to J. E. Monk, 1 down, P. Smith lost to H. J. Henderson, 2 and 1; S. Cox lost to N. Robertson. 3 and 1. Sunday
Strickett lost to Lapsley. 3 and 2; Girvin beat Stanley, 4 and 3; Scammell halved with Henderson: Smith halved with Start; B. Young (replaced Dillon) beat Turner, 4 and 3; Stuart halved with T. Monk; Foley lost to Robertson, 2 and 1; Cox lost to J. Monk, 1 down.
