N.Z. basketball teams
The New Zealand Basketball Federation has announced the teams that have been accepted for the Hertz national division one men’s and women’s championships to be held in Palmerston North concurrently from September 1-5. The men’s finalists are: Auckland, Canterbury, Hamilton, Nelson, North Shore, Palmerston North, Wellington and the winner of a match between Otago and Napier to be played in Otago.
The women’s finalists are: Auckland, Canterbury, Hamilton, Napier, Otago, Palmerston North, Porirua and the winner of a match between Wellington and Hutt Valley. The Federation’s executive officer, Mr Joe McLeod, said that the losers of the playoffs for a spot at the nationals, would automatically be eligible for their respective second division finals which are played the same week in Taurahga and Porirua.
