Support for P.R. offices

More than 60 per cent of New Zealand's public relations and information offices get at least half their money from local bodies, according to a recent survey. Mr B. R. Dunstan, executive officer of the Canterbury Promotion Council, said the 60.5 per cent of offices in that category obtained an average of almost 80 per cent of their funding needs from local authorities. Of the .43 New Zealand information offices surveyed by the Whakatane-public relations officer. 38 replied. Seven offices were totally supported by local bodies. Although 12 of the offices that responded were controlled by‘ local authorities, that left 68.4 per cent underother forms of control, Mr Dunstan said. The Canterbury Promotion Council may get funding support from two-thirds of the area’s local authorities this year.
