$19,000 ring stolen
A ring valued at about $19,000 was among jewellery and cash taken from a Cashmere house on Friday evening.
Jewellery valued at a total of $21,500 and $5OO in cash were taken during the breakin. which occurred between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.
The Christchurch C. 1.8. was continuing its investigations yesterday, but no arrests had been made. Detectives were also investigating an attempt to break into a safe at Hutchinson Motors on Colombo Street, Sydenham, on Friday night. ‘ )• The burglars, using the garage’s own oxy-acetylene equipment, were ’apparently disturbed before opening the safe. Nothing was taken.
