Increased fees condemned
Recent increases in fees announced by the Trotting Conference have been condemned by the national council of the Standardbred Breeders’ Association. The conference has been asked to reconsider the implementation of the new fees. The association, in a statement, has condemned the extent of the increases and expressed concern at the lack of communication afforded the kindred bodies. “The kindred bodies and the members they represent —owners, trainers, horsemen and breeders—will contribute 40 per cent of the income of the conference, yet remain without direct representation on the conference,” the statement says.
