Wolfenden in 3rd place

NZPA Oslo, Norway The New Zealand driver Peter Wolfenden, is a close third after the first eight of 29 races in the 1980 World

Championships for trotting drivers.

The reigning European Champion Pekka Korpi, aged 31, of iFnland is in the lead with 57 points, closely followed by the defending World Champion, Ulf Thoresen. of Norway (56 points) and Wolfenden with 55 points. The nine drivers participating are scored 16 points for first places, 11 for second places, eight for third places, six for fourth places and five, four, three, two, one for places five to nine. The championship series, spread over three weeks, will now continue in Finland, West Germany and Italy, where the final races are scheduled for June 14. Race winners at Bjerke on Wednesday were Thoresen, Cote, Dautzenberg and Edge. Wolfenden won two races at Jarlseberg on Friday and one race each at Paisley and Botoni.
