‘Help’ not so helpful
/./The - present edition of /, “Help”' — the Christchurch' City Council’s directory of community services,' sports clubs,- and other activities — has not been as helpful as earlier editions, according to criticisms received by the council. So the council's community services committee has decided to meet city groups to determine how it could be dofie'better.
About 2000 of the 4000 copies have been sold this year. All of them need to be sold for the project to break even. ' The latest edition does not contain an index, and people have found it difficult to find information. Changes had been designed for "simple, speedy access to information.” according, to the directory’s introduction, but users had not found it. * A'-’* •? f
that way, councillors have been told. The District Council of Social Services has expressed concern about the publication. and has offered to help consider future changes. Qne proposed interim solution would be the publication of a supplement before the next edition. That supplement could update information in the present directory, and possibly include an index to the directory.
