No sign of man lost in river

PA Auckland The search for a missing construction worker presumed to have drowned in the Waikato River was called off yesterday afternoon and may not be resumed today. The searchers will meet this . morning to decide whether to continue looking for Mr Tong Ngaheke, aged JO, of Marton, in the river near Tuakau. Mr Ngaheke lived in a barge with three other men working on a pipeline over

the river. He apparently fell into the river after trying to cross the river to the" barge on a steel cable. The police were told of the incident late on Wednesday night and a jet boat was called in to search the area. Twenty construction workers, policemen, and Navy divers searched the river yesterday from daybreak to 3 p.m. but without success. The divers could use only snorkels because of undergrowth and rubbish in the river.
