Anxious moments

The competition leader, Asia Pacific Aranui had many anxious moments against a ’ polished University team in the early match of the Cooper Henderson women’s Division One basketball competition at Cowles Stadium last evening. University nearlv caused a major upset, playing with precision team-work against a lethargic Aranui defence. Aranui recovered. using an effective press, to win in the final quarter, 51-42, after trailing, 18-21. at half-time. Checkers scorched awav effortlessly from the luckless Rebels to win comfortably. 70-31, in the second match. Checkers led, 34-8. at half-time. Mairehau beat Continental Caterers Rangiora 58-38 in the
