Labour Party policy
Sir.—Labours plan to "provide” 6000 new jobs in a government carpet industry is an old socialist idea doomed to failure. It has been tried unsuccessfully with Air New Zealand and the Railways, both of which should have been declared bankrupt long ago. When are socialists going to learn that governments can only provide such things by taking from someone else (the taxpayer)? If the Labour Party individuals are really concerned about unemployment they had better look to lower taxes and Government deficit
spending in order to put wealth back into private hands where businessmen can create successful products and as a bonus more jobs. — Yours, etc..
