Local government man to retire
After working for 50 years in local government administration, a Wellington man, Mr T. M. McKewen, will retire in July. He started his career when he joined the staff of the Palmerston- North Hospital Board in 1931. Mr McKewen served as the secretary of the New Zealand Counties Association for 35 years, during which he developed the Counties In-: surance Company and the Counties Hire Purchase Organisation. . ” While serving on the Na-
tional Roads Board, which he helped establish, he was responsible for introducing reflectorised double yellow lines on New Zealand highways. Mr McKewen ' was awarded the 0.8. E. in 1964 for his services to local government. He intends to continue his association with local government as a consultant to. the insurance.' company and will retain his membership of some government bodies.
