Queen of the Furrow
A primary-school teacher, Mrs Kaye Frest]uez, aged 21 won the’Queen of the Furrow contest held in conjunction with the national ploughing contest for the Mobil Silver Plough at the week-end. She won $l3OO in prizes, in a competition in which competitors were required to show charm, personality, good grooming and deportment, attractive looks, and some; general 7 knowledge. Mrs Fresquez is married to an American who works in Palmerston North. They met while she visited Colorado in 1977 under a Rotary exchange scheme and they married at the beginning of last year. • Born at Halcombe, Mrs Fresquez teaches the upper primers and standard I at the Halcombe School. . The runner-up in the contest,_ Sandra Hunt, a bank
clerk, is' the eldest daughter of Mr Elvery Hunt, who was the runner-up in the ploughing contest, which was concluded near Palmerston North bn Saturday. It was a busy time for the Hunt family. Mr Hunt is secretary-treasurer of the Manawatu Ploughing Match Association, which was host to the national championships. His wife also played a leading part in the running of the contest.
