New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association of Canterbury, Ltd, has formed a group management committee, the directors announced, after a review of the company’s divisional operations. The committee, which will report to new managing

director (Mr J. B. Buxton) comprises: Mr H. L. A. Morley, general manager rural services, Mr A. J. McGuire, general manager retail services (Farmers and Haywrights, Ltd). Mr J. H. Greenwood, group financial controller, and

Mr G. H. Oakley, company secretary. Mr G. R. Lawn, who recently retired as managing director of Haywrights, Ltd, (but remains a director) will be an ex-officio member of the management committee. He will continue as a consultant to the retail operations of the group.

Mr Buxton envisages that the newly-formed management committee will ensure that an adequate consultative and monitoring opportunity is available to senior management — strengthening the chain of delegation and decision making.
