Milton Friedman

Sir,—W. Rosenberg has declined to answer the questions asked by M. J. Stanley (May 9). If those questions were answered openly and honestly, it would be obvious where our problems lie. New Zealand does have so much going for it. Our agriculture, horticulture and wood product industries, and multitude of small export industries are producing more than ever before, and new markets are continually expanding. That our Government is deep in debt and cutting services while our taxes continue to grow, is an indictment on its viability. All over the world refugees are escaping suppressive regimes in the hope of finding freedom and prosperity. We must take our own exodus as an indication that the road we are following is the wrong one—Yours, etc.,

ALAN C. WILLENS. May 12. 1981.
