Tourists lose games
Three junior basketball teams from one of Melbourne's largest clubs. Eltham. started a six match tour of New Zealand with games against Canterbury s , junior teams last evening ; at Cowles Stadium The early game between the under-16 boys was won by Canterbury 43-35 after Canterbury led 1816 at half-time. Hardly more than three points separated the teams. Mike Dorreen (Cashmere »H.S.), made most of the play for Canterbury while Franze Furndorfler (Cashmere) slotted in 10 points The Canterbury under 18 girls clinched their game 32-24 alter leading 21-15 at half-time, .Angela Pule (Christchurch G.H.S.) rebounded strongly dominating both boards, while Robyn, Paterson (Burnside H.S.) and Riki Patterson (Hornby H.S.) both played strongly. The under-18 Eltham boys survived a late, hussling challenge from Canterbury to win 55-54 in a very rugged encounter. Eltham had a lead of 13-26 at half-time.
