Pianist buys ticket to own concert
PA Wellington The concert pianist, Roger Woodward, has paid $10.50 for a ticket to his own recital. The world-renowned pianist will play a special concert at the Wellington Town Hall on Sunday, May 24, with all proceeds going to the Polish Association and Red Cross appeal to raise funds for food’ for Poland. To set the pace for the appeal, Woodward has bought a ticket- to. his own concert. The Polish Association has
raised more than $ll,OOO towards the fund, which will be used to send New Zealand meat and dairy produce to Poland to relieve food shortages. Distribution of the. food will be done by the Polish Red Cross. The Roman Catholic Metropolitan of New Zealand . (the most T. S. Williams) will launch a national .* appeal tomorrow, and the j association hopes enough money will be raised to send .two or three -containers of food.
