U.S. plans at Blenheim
Sir,—You featured on your front page recently concern raised over the United States Navy planning to spend $1.25 million on star-gazing equipment near Bleneim. Is our credibility being stretched or are we truly not to believe that this is just another United States ploy to draw New Zealand and New Zealanders into the nuclear arena? The Minister of Defence might enlighten us as to how New Zealand can be a signatory to a non-proli-feration agreement and still allow the United States military and all its nuclear warfare potential, to use this country as part of its war machine?—Yours. etc., TONI DILLON. May 8, 1981.
