Rangers loses again

Rangers suffered their eighth Rothmans Soccer League loss on Saturday. But in spite of remaining at the bottom of the points table, its coach, Mr Nick de Meyer, is confident that things will improve.

His team was beaten, 4-0, by Mount Wellington in Auckland. Mr de Meyer rates Mount Wellington's performance as the best he has’seen in the league in 1981. He is also pleased with his team's effort, apart from its finishing in- front of Mount Wellington's goal. Geoff Taylor squandered two fine scoring chances, Marcel Verweij also missed two, and Brian Chisholm missed one opportunity.

But Mr de Meyer showed himself to be ever an optimist.

He said, “There was a very good improvement on Saturday. l am confident that next week-end there will be the start of a revival.”

Hamilton, which is one place above Rangers, threw away a 2-0 lead against Wellington Diamond United and lost two crucial points.

National Mutual Miramar waited.' until six minutes from the end to score a deserved equalising goal against Dunedin City in Wellington. - ... Brian McKeown's goal for Hanimex-North Shore against Christchurch Mogal United is his ninth in the league, making him the leading individual scorer. — Two matches were not played at the week-end: Gisborne City against Takapuna City and"Manurewa against

Woolston Workingmen's Club.

Results: Hamilton 2 (Graeme Fleming penalty, Keith Niederer). Wellington Diamond United 3 (Wynton Rufer, Paul MeLean-2). Half-time: 1-0.

National Mutual Miramar 1 (Arthur Brown), Dunedin City 1 (John Scholten). Half-time: 0-1. Christchurch Mogal United 0, Hanimex-North Shore 2 (Keith Hobbs, Brian McKeown). Half-time: 0-1.
