Two die in hospital
An elderly woman, seri.ously injured in a motor accident on Monday, died in Christchurch. Hospital on Thursday night. She was Huia Marion Catherine Mclntosh, aged 85, of Harewood Road. Both she and Mr Charles Henry Bedford;, - aged 88, were the occupants of a car which was .involved in a collision with a truck at the intersection of Harewood Road and Johns., Road. ruary 28 also died in the hospital on Thursday. He was Andrew John Kennedy, aged 18, of Mathias Street, Darfield. He had been riding his motor-cycle on a moto-cross course at Glentunnel when he somersaulted off his machine. He suffered serious head injuries when he was struck by the machine. The Press Association reports that the First Secrer tary (Agriculture and Food) of the British High Commission in Wellington was one of three men who died in a head-on collision on a State highway 6km north of Levin
on Wednesday. He was Alan Frederick Baldrey, . aged 43. The two other men who died with Mr Baldrey were lan Cairney, aged 63, a veterinarian, of the meat division of the Ministry of Agriculture, and David Heynes, the product officer of the New Zealand Freezing Companies Association. Both were from Wellington. The woman driver of the other vehicle involved, Betty McCormack, aged 28, of Upper Hutt, received only minor injuries.
