Protest march
PA Napier A captain in the' former Maori Battalion, Mr Whiro Tibble, aged 69. and Mr Stephen Shann, aged 19, yesterday led the Allan Wallbank march party into Napier. The party left Gisborne on April 28. Mr Wallbank, the Labour Party candidate for Gisborne, completed the 322 km journey as a protest against unemployment and to emulate Mr Billy Coates’s 1934 “hunger march” between the same two cities.
