Bus plunges 25m
PA Wanganui A fleet of ambulances took 29 people to hospital after, a bus plunged over a steep bank and overturned north of Wanganui last evening. No-one was thought to be seriously injured. The accident happened abcut Bkm from Wanganui on a notorious winding hill section knowm as Goat Valley. About 6 p.m. the Railways Road Services bus. bound for
New Plymouth, was descending the valley when it plunged over a bank and came to rest upside down in a field about 25m from the road. Five ambulances were used to take the badly shaken passengers to Wanganui Hospital. Chief Inspector P. Wiersma of the Wanganui police praised Fire Service and ambulance personnel, saying the removal of the
injured was the fastest and most efficient he had seen. The bus appeared to be a write-off. It was the second bus crash of the day in the North Island. Early yesterday morning a coach crashed off the -Southern motorway at Manurewa. Three passengers and the driver were taken to hospital and nine others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
