Bank for sale again
The National Bank building, on the corner of Hereford Street and Manchester Street in Christchurch, is back on the market after having been sold in January for $300,000. The building was sold by the National Bank to Mr Q. C. J. van der Veer, of Christchurch, who owns the Cashmere View and Bethany lirivate hospitals. It is beieved that.Mr van den Veer had intended to refurbish the
building for a restaurant and other services. He had had plans drawn up but then had to abandon the project, but not for financial reasons. The property is back on the market even before the settlement date of the January sale, which was agreed by the bank and Mr van der Veer to be June 30.' The Government Valuation (1979) of the land and building to $325,000.
