National Party policy
Sir,—l have recently received a pamphlet in my mail-box, telling me all about Ruth Richardson (National candidate for Selwyn). I am impressed. It tells me that Ruth can sew, cook, jog, is fit and healthy and has a law degree. Also I note that she has been married for six years. Well! Well! I would estimate that there are innumerable women in Selwyn who can do all these things and raise a family with one hand tied behind their backs. What the “dynamic” Ruth doesn’t say is what she and her party intend doing to clean up the mess they have got the country into. How are they going to tackle unemployment, crippling taxes, inflation, law and order? They have had 30 years, with the exception of two three-year periods, to run the country and have succeeded in running it into the ground. A fit young womanin place of a lethargic man won’t make much difference to Selwyn while the National Party continues on its ineffective way.—Yours, etc., J. KNIGHT. Darfield, April 24, 1981.
