Phantom flinger

DEVONPORT (England) police are hunting a “phantom sausage flinger” after a string of bizarre incidents, it has been reported from London. Police have received complaints about a night prowler who creep's along back lanes in Devonport and lobs packs of sausages into gardens. Householders have been bombarded with the fresh, uncooked specimens. One housewife described them as “pork, and always from the Co-op.” The diary suggests that the affliction may run in the phantom’s family. Indeed, he may be a chipolata off the old block. Recovery

AN EMPLOYER in Christchurch had a lucky : recovery this week. He went from his workplace by car to his New Brighton bank to cash an $BOO wages cheque. When he got there, he discovered that he had lost the cheque. He went back to the bank the next day to see if it had been found, but-nd luck. •So another was written. As he left.the bank and walked across the road, he saw a piece of paper lying face

down on the road. He picked it up, and, yes, it was the original cheque.

The quality was said to be good and the price cheaper than that from New Zealand.
