Breast cancer campaign
One New Zealand woman in 15 contracts breast cancer but only a small amount of women give themselves regular breast examinations, according to the executive officer for the Canterbury Westland branch of the Cancer Society, Mr G. F. Lawry, yesterday. . Mr Lawry was commenting about the success this week of. the attempts throughout New Zealand to alert women to the matter of breast cancer. Under 10 per cent of women undertook breast self-examination, he said.
