Lakewood Drive closing
Sir,— It is obvious that the Lakewood Drive Residents Committee, (a secret society) is out of touch with its own residents. Mr Jeffreys is correct in bringing the matter of closing Lakewood Drive and Carlson Street, to the attention of all residents concerned, and not carry on behind closed doors. The actions of a few result in their alleged problem being pushed into someone
else’s backyard. Would MiRich. chairman of Waimairi County Council, confirm or deny that Lake Terrace Road will be reconstructed and Burwood Road corner altered? If so, has the Christchurch City Council been notified? The answer to the whole question is when will the expressway be constructed?—Yours, etc., W. FOOT. March 16, 1981.
[Mr D. B. Rich, chairman, Waimairi. County Council, replies: “I am not aware that there is anything secretive about the Lakewood Drive Residents’ Committee. They are signatories to a petition presented to the council. This is a public document available for inspection. The council has not considered alterations such as those suggested by your correspondent. I support the construction of the expressway at the earliest possible date.”']
