PA Wellington Prices for good wool at the combined WellingtonWanganui sale at Wellington yesterday were unchanged on .values at the last sal? at Timaru. but poorer wools ; and inferior types were generally down. ', Of the 18,364 bales offered. ' 16,007 ' were front j Wanganui and 2357 from I Wellington. The Wool Board; bought 30 per cent (5709). i The Wanganui offering consisted of 48 per cent ewe fleece, 22 per cent lambs, fleece,-20 per cent second-, shear.- and the usual oddments. The fleece wool generally showed more colour than Al
usual and more cotting was evident. The main competition was from Eastern Europe with support from Western Europe, Japan, local scours, and New Zealand mills. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 245.08 c a kilogram, according to the Wool Board. Because the trigger price of 330 c a kilogram was not exceeded, no retention levy will apply.
