Schenley ready for Rotorua
Special correspondent Hastings Schenley hit out strongly in training in Hastings yesterday suggesting he is far from being, a spent force. Fast ' work was mainly confined to the plough. The footing was deep and times were not fast. Schenley did well to run 1000m.on his own in Imin 3.9 sec, the last 600 m in 38.4 sec. He pulled up extremely well and looks in great condition. Hi? trainer, Charlie Cameron, is likely to start Schenley in the Dalgety-New Zealand International Stakes at Te Rapa next Tuesday. Kissenger, which is preparing for the highweight at Woodville on Saturday, worked with Dash over 800 m. The last 600 m took 38.2 sec. Kissenger looks to have freshened well. . The stablemates, Once and Monarchy Rose, were paired over a round on the plough. Monarchy Rose finished clear of his partner, running the last. 1000 m in Imin s.Bsec, and the final 600 m in 40.6 sec. Monarchy Rose is entered for the Borough Handicap at
Woodville on Saturday and Once is in the Autumn Maiden.' Velvet Brown went a little faster than three-quarter pace from the 1200 m peg on the -plough. She was 'timed from the 1000 m -in Tfnin 12.7 sec, the last- 600 m. in 42.55ec. She finished well for fifth in the Wairoa Cup and is close to winning. Something Super distanced a gelding by Bold Edge in their 600 m gallop. Something Super was clocked at 37.45ec. Rono, a maiden entry at Woodville, ran 600 m in 39.8 sec, and Adios Amigo went quietly over the same distance in 39.8 sec. Adios Amigo, formerly trained at Levin by Errol Skelton, is now with Linton Cullen at Hastings, Chickers ran 800 m in 50.8 sec, the last 600 m in 38.5 sec. She starts in the First Weber Maiden at Woodville. Cloudy Lease hit out well when running . 1000 m in Imin 9.ssec, the last 600 m in 40.7 sec. Shivoo was partnered by Candid Knight when running 1200 m in Imin 19sec, the last 600 m in 37.9 sec.
