Korchnoi, Huebner again adjourn
NZPA-Reuter Italy The sixth g*me in. the world chess candidates final between the Soviet exile, Victor Korchnoi, and West Germai.v’s Robert Huebner was adjourned after 40 moves yesterday.
Huebner, playing black, stood two pawns up but experts said Korchnoi appeared to hold a good board position.
. The game will be completed today. Going into the sixth game, Huebner held a one-point edge over Korchnoi in the best-of 16-came series. The West German had won two games, Korchnoi one, and two were drawn. . The winner will challenge the champion, Anatoly Karpov, of the Soviet Union, for
the world title next (northern) summer.
Korchnoi used a. Queen’s Gambit opening for the first time in the match in an effort to' find a winning combination and make, up the point he is down, experts said. But Huebner 'appeared to quickly counter white’s initiative and experts said that by the sixteenth move the German had moved to the attack. . <
However, Korchnoi kept up the pressure and in spite of being down two pawns, succeeded in gaining a' solid position by the adjournment. The fifth game in the series ended in a draw.
Huebner appeared to enjoy a slightly stronger pawn position but did not have a decisive advantage and the playera agreed, toi a draw after 4houts, 32mins of play
