Airports to close?
NZP.A Melbourne Transport Australia, formerly the Federal Transport Department, Said last evening it may close down Australia’s radar and navigational system today. This would’, ground all scheduled domestic antF in- ' ternational airline services in and out of Australia. A department spokesman said the Professional Radio and Electronics Institute had, without warning, extended its bans to navigational aids, forcing the department to consider drastic action.
The spokesman said the department would today consider either shutting down the whole system or closing only Sydney Airport. Until yesterday the 18day dispute only involved bans on radar maintenance.
