Historic Places Trust appointments
PA Wellington The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) has announced the appointment of Dr N. C. Begg, of Dunedin, as chairman of the Historic Places Trust
The present Trust Board, of which Dr Begg has been chairman since 1978, will cease to exist on February 1 next year, when the new Historic • Places Act comes into force.
Dr Begg is: well known as a former director of medical services for ihe Plunket Society and as ', co-author of three books onlNew .Zealand History, •’
Mr Highet also announced the names of board mem. bers. All appointments, are for three years, expiring in February, 1984. Three of the memberstppointed to the trust are new* They are Mrs > Emarina Manuel of Wairoa, Mr A. D. Talbot, of Timaru, : and Mr. Roy Hanns, of Wellington. ■ •, Other members appointed to the new Trust Board and at present on the trust are: Messrs K. Gorbey, of Hamilton; M. Hitchings, of Dunedin; R. Cassels, of Auckland; K. Sorrenson, of Auckland; and G. Thornton,; ofWelling- ' ton.
