Council seeks ideas on recycling
The Christchurch City, Council will probably set up an advisory group with a ’ majority of non-councillors to suggest ideas for a com* prehensive rubbish recycling project. Neighbourhood groups have already been sent letters inviting them to help plan the city's recycling and rubbish disposal programme. "Any successful scheme will need a lot of co-oper-ation from the public, commerce, and industry,” said the chairman of the works
and traffic committee. Cr D. C. Close. An advisory committee could talk about a wide range of ideas. That process would also help residents understand some of the problems in the way of successful recycling. Cr Close said his proposal to the works ana traffic committee next week would probably call for an advisory body of five councillors and 10 representatives of residents’ groups and other organisations.
