Rowing appointment
NZPA Sydney A former New Zealand national rowing coach, Mr Rusty Robertson, has been snapped up to coach New South Wales. Mr Robertson, aged 52, has signed a three-year contract with the New -South Wales Rowing Association and been appointed executive director of coaching. Mr Robertson, a- former Oamaru builder, is regarded as one of the top rowing
coaches in the world outside of East -Germany and the Soviet Union. He moved to Australia in 1976 after 10 years as New Zealand’s national rowing coach. In that period he led New Zealand oarsmen to the top of world rowing .with gold medals in the coxed four at the Mexico Olympics and the eight in Munich as well as other successes at international competitions.
