Canty cricket squad named
Bob Masefield, a leg-spin-ner from' North Canterbury, and Warren Eddington, an all-rounder from Ashburton and former Canterbury Shell series player, are in the cricketers from outside Christchurch named in the Canterbury Shell trainiif; squad last evening. The squad will start practice at Lancaster Park tomorrow and will train again on November 20 at 5,p.m. The convener of the selection panel (Mr Noel McGregor) said last evening, that the Canterbury Rothmans players had riot been included because of their commitments to the national tournament next month. However,, they will ■ all be considered for the Shell series team and Canterbury B side after the national tournament. ■ -. ■
An interesting feature of the squad is the inclusion of three senior wicket-keepers — Bryan Ritchie, who was the first choice for Canterbury last season, John Mackie and Ashley Hart.
The' squad chosen by Messrs McGregor, D. J. McKendry and J. W. Kiddey, is: Barry Hadlee, Cran Bull, Ritchie, Dayle Hadlee, Bernie Rule, David Stead, Lindsay Thorn, Glen Bateman, Mackie, David Dempsey, Andrew Nuttall,' Les Watson, Hart, Craig Thiele, Tony Farrant, Barry Thomas, Masefield and Eddington.
