The super-company
Sir, — I can understand the Government supporting the super-company merger. If it got into financial difficulty, the Government could take it over (nationalise) under the pretext of “saving” New Zealand from bankruptcy. I can only hope that the directors of the new conglomerate are responsible enough not to ask for Gov-, eminent assistance if things get tough for them. I see the move as one more step along the road of total government control of the economy with disastrous results.- — Yours, etc., PETER JOHNSON. October 23, 1980.
