Promotional visit

Four travel organisations have combined to “sell” New Zealand as a venue for business conferences, and to promote the idea a group of 28 Australian executives arrived in Christchurch yesterday.

The visit is sponsored by Air New Zealand, Mount Cook Airlines, Trans Australian Airlines, and the Inns of the Pacific, chain. The Australian regional headquarters of Air New Zealand has organised the four-day excursion to stimulate more business traffic between the two countries, and to promote New Zealand as a travel destination.

Many of the biggest com-

panies in Australia are represented in the party, which comprises managing directors, general managers, and other executives. Most of the party is from Sydney and Melbourne.

After yesterday’s arrival, the party attended a mayoral reception at the Town Hall. This morning members will be welcomed by the general manager of the New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department (Mr W. N. Plimmer). This afternoon, the party will fly to Queenstown. The group will return to Christchurch before returning to Australia on Monday.
