The intrepid Californian animal trainer, Paul Barkman, on his ill-fated -attempt to cross infamous Death Valley on a dromedary in just one day. It was the first attempt at the 24-hour crossing, and Mr Barkman had trained on his dromedary for months. He began the 190 kilometre journey in the cool of early morning, but by mid-afternoon the 49 degree heat proved too much and he collapsed with sunstroke. He has now recovered and is determined to make another attempt.
