No power for Grey family

G reymouth reporter | 1 A second Greymouth family which has paid only 75 'per cent of its power iaccount -as a- protest against [the price of electricity had jits power cut off yesterday I morning. Mr P. G. Neame, chairman of the Power Action Group, and a- new. member of the I West Coast Electric Power 'Board, said .yesterday that I power had been stopped for i,V.- and Mrs A. Murphy, of 188 Alexander Street. The tcouple had a baby aged about nine months.
Electricity is still off to the home of Mr and Mrs L. Grant, Cobden, who also paid only 75 per cent of their account. The Grants have been without electricity for more than a fortnight, but Mr Grant said yesterday! that they had been making! out vvell.
At the first meeting of the new power board on Monday, Mr Neame asked that no" action be taken against protesters, but he was told that that would be illegal. The engineer-manager (Mr I. G. Webster) said that it was all or none as far as the board was concerned. Mr P. J. Minehan said that if charges were reduced by 25 per cent, the board would not have the finance to pay its own bills or its staff.
