Himalayan rally resumes
NZPA-Reuter New Delhi ! I The controversial Himala- i yan car rally resumed yesterday after being held up by demonstrators who i said drivers were wasting fuel and money. Five leading cars lost ; their windscreens and win- : dows in Sunday’s demonstration, at Aurangabad in western India and about 100 people were-arrested. leg. Its route has been changed after threats of further demonstrations. The 5300 km rally began in Bombay on Saturday with 74 cars. Kenya’s Shekhar Mehta, leading with 85 penalty points, roared out of Aurangabad in his Opel after fitting a mesh grill on one window and aluminium foil on another. Trailing him is the West German, Achim Warbold, with 87 points.
