Association pleased with poll results
The New Zealand Pure Water Association is very happy , with . the overwhelming vote against artificial fluoridation in the Riccarton Borough, according to the association’s national spokesman, Mr C. G. Marshall. Mr'Marshall said that a three, to one .vote against fluoridation was made by Riccarton residents at the recent local-body polls and the association was also pleased at a majority poil against the process in Hokitika. “We trust that other newly elected councils, including the Christchurch City Council, take heed of such democratic procedure,” he said. ‘
The association is making further submissions to the Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet) to change localbody legislation to make a poll' on fluoridation compulsory and.its result binding. "In 26 years there has not been one poll in favour of artificial fluoridation,” Mr Marshall said.
