Freedom of information
Sir, — On Sunday night television had a lot to say about freedom of information. They were very critical of the Government, so could they put their own house in order by disclosing the damages awarded to Alex Harvey Industries, Ltd, against “Fair Go.” Also did the “Fair Go” staff have to pay part of the damages and if not. why not? — Yours, etc., J. H. SILVESTER.
September 24, 1980. [Mr Charles Martin, public affairs manager, 8.C.N.Z., replies: “The terms of settlement between the two parties preclude the publication of this information. To do so would be in breach of a legal agreement and this seems far removed from the points being made in the Close-Up programme.”]
